    ABOUT ME

  • I got into making mead as part of my childhood quest to be a modern viking. I made my first batch in highschool. It took almost two decades before I got around to making my second batch. I'm only interested in mead. Wine is swill, and my body no longer tolerates beer.

Well, I think my pumpkin pie mead is a bust. I'm still going to add the spices to some of it.
But I want to split the batch and try a few things. So I'd like to hear y'alls thoughts on what
    to add to ...

Just finished racking to tertiary (there's a word you don't use every day). Secondary involved
racking into a bottling bucket, cleaning out the carboy, then racking back into the carboy with
    five extr...

Bochet is my favorite style. I need more carboys so I can make another one. The only bochet
I've done so far was a blackberry. It definitely came out dark. I only cooked half the honey.
    Next time I'm ...

Sadly, I have nothing to add at the moment. We moved from our apartment to a rental house and I
haven't had a chance to get myself reorganized. Plus I used the yeast to start another batch of
    mead. :d...

I'm a bit concerned that there doesn't seem to be any activity twelve hours after pitching. No
bubbles through the blowoff and no movement in the carboy. The starter had stopped before
    pitching. Does ...

Carving and pie pumpkins ? There's a difference ?I just don't get pumpkins and squashes......
the few times I've tasted them, they've always seemed bland as hell. I've been left with the
    presumption t...

Got a 2-liter starter of lalvin 1118 sitting on the kitchen counter. My 6.5-gallon carboy is
sanitized and waiting. There's almost fifteen pounds of honey given to us by friends with their
    own hives. ...

I'd bet fresh berries would still end up tasting like jelly. Just because it's still going to
be sweet and fairly thick. But sounds like you might have the same "wonder what that would
    taste like" pro...

What's the longest people usually leave fruit in? Is there any risk as time goes on?I just did
a one-gallon batch that sat on the blackberries in primary for a solid month. That didn't
    create much bla...
