- I am a home brewer who is starting up a small pub brewery for the community I live in. The craft brew market is evolving to meet the needs of today's beer drinkers. I will be part of this movement toward small, local, quality, and creative.

- I have been brewing for several years. I got tired of the lack of selection at the local stores in my area. I brewed a wonderful beer my first try using a Double IPA kit. Second attempt was one of the best beers I had ever had at the time, an IPA recipe that I crafted based on personal taste preferences. Since then, I have turned to all grain brewing.

I'll start with a dumb question, what's a Bearkaat? You've got this semi-suggestive feminine
image of a woman on a barrel and I'm wondering what that is supposed to be telling me, but I
have no idea i...Posted in thread: BearKaat Brewery Brand Image input needed! on 12-14-2012 at 01:25 AM
I would like to start by thanking everyone in advance for their input. Currently, we are in the
works of creating a brand image and label for our new and upcoming brewery. We are really
trying to go f...Posted in thread: Need feedback: Cinnamon Vanilla Oatmeal Stout on 12-10-2012 at 02:50 PM
I was thinking about making my own extract. Do you think one whole vanilla bean soaked in
bourbon be too much? Thanks for the input!one whole bean soaked in bourbon will be plenty,

I have had krausens look like that. I would say that it is more than likely just fine. The only
way I would be concerned is if the krausen had fallen completely and then that showed up.
However, if th...Posted in thread: Need feedback: Cinnamon Vanilla Oatmeal Stout on 12-05-2012 at 06:37 PM
I agree with Deacon, a little vanilla extract goes a long ways. Also, I would consider adding
everything to secondary. Vanilla oils can have a negative effect on fermentation from my
experience. If yo...Posted in thread: IPA Critique on 12-05-2012 at 12:22 AM
Agree with GlenF that this beer will be very sweet. And you want at most 5lbs of honey malt.
Honey malt comes through very strong even in small amounts.I would recommend using less than a
.5lbs (maybe...Posted in thread: Help with snoqualmie falls avalanche on 12-05-2012 at 12:02 AM
From my calculations, at a 75% efficiency, you would have a starting gravity of 1.075 (1.070
with 70%). The description of the beer states it has an OG of 1.068. How much higher are you
looking to go ...Posted in thread: uh-oh? on 11-27-2012 at 01:23 AM
I had a brown ale turn out like this once. It was perfectly fine one day, and the next it
looked like that. There were some white chunks, not quite as well defined as what yours looks
like though. I h...Posted in thread: Little or no krausen, but very active fermentation on 11-22-2012 at 09:00 PM
The ONLY thing that tells us anything is a gravity reading. And sample glass to taste.Posted in thread: No/low aeration. Just more yeast? on 11-22-2012 at 08:43 PM
Also, in regards to having 15 gallons and not being able to shake it. Simple solution, siphon
off a few gallons and re-aerate those few gallons (be sterile and you'll avoid infection). The
yeast will ...
