  • I've been brewing off and on for about 8 years, but I've been brewing a batch every 4 weeks for the last 2 years or so. Just started all-grain brewing finally in June 2012. This has been my goal for a long time; to drink 90-95% homebrew. Saves a lot of money (well, if you're just talking ingredients, I try not to think about the equipment investments I've made) but more importantly it is incredibly satisfying to create my own beer. Beers that I feel measure up to quality beers you find at the store. I'm also getting into mead making, with 4 separate gallons so far.

I have 5 gallons of brown ale that I loosely based on the BYO clone recipe of Bells Best Brown.
I did all grain of course, Rahr Pale Ale, with a pound each Briess Special Roast, Crystal 60,

Brewing a modified version of this as I type. I'm lowering the OG and FG for my tastes. I feel
like 1.020 is high, but maybe the real beer does finish high. In any case, I'm using the
    original posts s...

I made my first batch way back in January. I followed the recipe 95% as written. My only change
was that I peeled the orange and used the strips of zest, and I only added the juice, not the
    pulp or pi...

Boiling my 2nd batch with all Cascade right now! Loved my first batch using Citra.

I made my first batch of this back in January and just tried it finally after about 3 months in
the bottle. Not bad. I've only had two commercially available meads, but this was better than
    one of the...

I'm about halfway through my keg of this brew. I made it with Centennial to bitter, Citra late
in the kettle as well as an ounce to dry hop for a week. Lovely brew. Definite repeat. I'm glad
    I didn't ...

I'm elated that nobody seems to like Hopslam all that much. Maybe next year I'll be able to
pick up more than a sixer again. That would be nice wouldn't it? Clearly a lot of people like it

I bitter all my IPAs with Columbus and love it. Try it before you decide anything about it. Its
not going to be undrinkable or anything.
