  • I never know what to put in these things.

As I write this, my house smells like burnt marshmallows (in a good way!), as a result of the batch of Bochet I just put on. I found the info through this forum, so figured I'd sign up :)

My husband and I started brewing in October 2009, when I woke him up with the brilliant idea of taking up brewing as a way to deal with all of the apples in the big tree out back in our new home. We had a 5 gallon batch on the same day. It was an insane amount of labor - him hauling several hundred lbs of apples, me chopping and putting them through our dinky little home juicer... but the results were spectacular, and we were hooked!

Together, we enjoy brewing various wines and meads (no grape wine, though!), and he enjoys brewing beer. It's kind of insane how quickly our little "Hey, I have an idea!" bloomed into what we're at today, but hey - fun, tasty.. we're all for it! Next big project is going to be building a press for this year's apple crop.

  • Eurodance, hands down. I need my oontz!

  • Crap, I used most of this as my "about me"!

Well, most of the recipes we've made have been made up as we go along. Off the top of my head, here's what we've made in the past year or so:

    Hard apple cider (awesome!)
    Cranberry wine (awesome!)
    Lemon wine (Horrible!)
Mixed fruit wine - peach, pineapple, strawberry, mango (Getting good with age!)
    Lingonberry wine (Best thing ever!)
Lingonberry / blueberry wine (pretty good!)
Strawberry wine (The reason we don't use other people's recipes! LOL.)
Mango wine from frozen chunks (decent, but dry)
Mango wine from canned pulp (Amazing!)
Mead flavored with "Cuties" orange peels, vanilla beans, ginger, and rosemary (Amazing!)
Watermelon wine (First batch ok, 2nd batch awesome!)
Mint wine (Interesting... very slow fermenting though!)
    Pear mead (still fermenting)
    Pear wine (Still fermenting)
Cranberry wine with Cuties orange peels (Just put on, Xmas 2010)
    Bochet (started today!)

    I think that's everything?
  • As soon as we free up some carboys, I think future brews are going to get interesting. Had the idea to use some of the commercial fruit purees I have available to me (as a pastry chef), so we'll be trying all kinds of funky stuff.. passionfruit, kiwi, fig, etc. Can't wait!
  • Cranberry / orange peel wine
    Mango pulp wine, batch #2
  • Mint wine
    Pear mead
    Pear wine
  • Everything else that I listed above :)
  • Hard apple cider, the Cuties mead, and a few of hubby's beers.

sure what their out of state distribution is like, though.

Wow! The progression on this wine is unbelievable!Going from the dishwater look to
