Posted in thread: What do you think of this mix of hops for growing.. on 04-23-2013 at 12:13 AM
Hopefully 2 months isn't enough for thread necromancy...I'm interested in which varieties you
planted and which ones are thriving. I live in Sparta, so what works for you may work for me
and the only ...Posted in thread: Yeast Washing Illustrated on 04-17-2013 at 12:16 AM
Rather than save 5 jars of enough yeast to build a starter, has anyone determined a good way to
save enough yeast to pitch directly? Maybe combine the yeast from 2 of the jars?Posted in thread: WLP001 and Fermentation Temp on 04-01-2013 at 11:59 PM
If the ambient temp is 72, I imagine the temp inside the fermentor will get close to 75 or more
at peak fermentation. If you move it to the basement, it might help pull the temp back down to
the high ...Posted in thread: How many of you brew "to style?" on 04-01-2013 at 11:09 PM

With only Munich Malt, I'd brew a bock style with German hops. Magnum or Hallertau.Posted in thread: Dry pale ale on 10-19-2012 at 01:37 AM
I overnight mashed a pale ale (See recipes) at 153 which dropped to 143 overnight. That beer
finished as close to 1.000 as I've ever seen. Got over 90% attenuation with US-05
repitch.Overnight mashing...Posted in thread: Help with Wildflower Braggot on 10-19-2012 at 01:26 AM
I have no experience using honey in my beer, and am therefore open to any suggestion from those
who have. I have a vision for a braggot with wildflower honey. I was thinking restrained late
hop charac...Posted in thread: Teaching Homebrew Class on 10-18-2012 at 11:19 PM
Take a look at this link.Posted in thread: Teaching Homebrew Class on 10-18-2012 at 11:17 PM
I was thinking along most of those lines. Start with ingredients, then a discussion of styles,
then a basic step-through of a typical brew day (probably geared towards extract brewers).I
also have ton...
