  • Started brewing when a friend's dad, who was a winemaker, helped me brew my first batch in 1990. It was a Mount Mellick American Light prehopped can, and it wasn't bad. I made few more as the years went by, but not often enough to get good at it.rnrnrnI've slacked off lately due to remodeling of our house, and other commitments that I can't seriously put off any more. Hopefully I'll be stocking my fridge again real soon.

I think the CL:So4 ratio is not necessarily crap, but misunderstood. As martin has said, it's
more of a dryness feeling when sulfate levels are increased. This goes well with the sensation
    of bitterne...

Ok, well you know lagers generally tend to want a few weeks of fermenting and a few weeks of
LAGERING to get the yeast to settle down and smooth out the flavor. That's just the way lager
    yeast prefer ...

My wife only uses liquid soaps. She and the kid have an aversion to bar soap. I have an
aversion to the "antibacterial" soaps she gets from Bath and Body.I admit the liquid pumps are
    handy when you ar...

Ended up making potato salad. Kid texted and wanted to see Avengers: AoU so I had her cook the
potatoes and eggs ahead of time so we'd have time to go out. Didn't end up going to movies, but
    I got pot...

works. My Seal-a-meal gave up the ghost. Nice to have for certain things.I think PassedPawn

Ham/bacon i would addI like this idea, but it depends on what you are looking for in a leek
soup. Some may want to go with a soup that highlights the leeks and basically uses the potato

My cascades are pretty hardy. I think it may be worth your effort to fig them up and see what's
happening. If you don't see anything sprouting on the rootstock, you may have to complain to
    the LHBS ab...

Personally, I found watching Alton Brown to be helpful in understanding WHY you do things in
the kitchen, and HOW things work. It's one show I recommend because it doesn't just teach you
    how to make a...
