    ABOUT ME

  • I have a wonderful wife who not only puts up with my brewing, but let me dedicate my entire basement to an all electric brewery and fermentation room

  • I've been brewing since 2009. Started on a $60 Sears turkey fryer and a 5 Gal glass carboy. Since those days of cold garage kit brewing, I've fallen into the money-pit that is home brewing.. Now I'm on a Kal Clone (theelectricbrewery.com), 2 6.5 Gal Carboys, 2 6's and 3 5's.. all that and I still need more fermenters. I Currently have a range of 5-15 gallon batch sizes. Typically I make 10 gallon batches and split into 2-5 gal batches: one of which I always use Belgian yeast.

I don't want the apple flavor to be really strong and over powering but I do want it to be
present. I'm afraid if I put them in secondary it will be very fruity. Will I lose the flavor
    all together if...

I brew with apples every year, you won't need pectin if you have access to a lagering fridge
and a little bit of time (1-2 months to clear). Depending on what kind of an apple/spice
    profile you are lo...

Update:I tapped my first keg (the Scottish yeast, after sitting in the fridge for the last
month and change) and it is OUTSTANDING!! I would recommend this as a nice fall beer, right as
    the nights sta...

I like your attitude. It is the taste buds in the end that are the ultimate measure of your
beer. Admittedly, if I don't take measurements I feel like Ive been running around with sharp
    scissors in my...

To tell you the truth, I haven't taken gravity readings post secondary in a few years, once the
base pale ale is done I let my nose and mouth guide this brew. If I had to guess, I'd say the
    final prod...

I really didn't want to give away my full apple honey recipe, but its too good not to
share:This is per 5/6 gal batch: Take a few pounds of fresh apples (cored, chopped, skins on)

Good morning all!I've been lurking around the forum for a while and I thought I'd contribute my
    pale ale recipe. I mainly use this as a base beer for secondary and kegging/bottling additions;
    apples a...
