  • How / Why did I get started homebrewing? Easy: It was the wife. I've been making home-made soft drinks since High School (Root Beer, Ginger Ale -- that sort of thing), and have been going pretty strong ever since in the soda world. But, SWMBO made the observations that 1) I was forty-two years old and 2) I needed to grow up and 'Brew something real'. She then presented me with a gift-certificate to the nearby LHBS, and I've been here ever since.

I'm pretty sure this is one of the questions on the AA evaluation form. If you so much as
hesitate, they admit you to the program :drunk:But still .... it's only money. Yes, I know the
    value of money....

Would that be in US dollars or Canadian?

I'm in! Holy cow, I've never fermented 24 gallons at one time, before! Should I buy a bigger
    brewpot, too, if I win?

Chincoteague Brauhaus' Chincoteague Pony Pee was pretty awful.

Oh, yes. Like there's really a question?Best Saison I ever had was my first one -- a couple of
years after I made it. It started out tasting off (I don't remember what I didn't like about
    it), and I p...

Nice, closest LHBS to me is 120 miles and are small scale shops.Sounds like you've got a local
need that's got to be filled, Mr. Entrepreneur.

  • Posted in thread: Why DME and LME in a recipe? on 03-27-2014 at 07:40 PM
Most LME comes as 3lb ish and 6lb containers, and …You know, I don't think I've ever seen a
'can' of LME at any of the LHBS's I frequent: Every LME I've ever bought has been in the
    poly/foil bags in 6...

  • Posted in thread: Going Chrome OS - Abandoning Windows 8 and the PC on 03-24-2014 at 05:13 AM
Haven't done much with Chrome -- either the browser or the OS or hardware; I've been a Linux
guy since '94 and there weren't such things as 'Distro's. Funny thing: we called our self-built
    computers a...

What's with the use of 'imperial' units in the US, anyways? The official units used here are the
'metric' ones. By an act of Congress in 1866 (That's the 19th Century, not the 20th), H.R. 596,
    the Metr...

Are you using new WL vials of yeast for your starters? did you check the date on them? What
yeast are you using?Depends. Occasionally I'll use new yeast if it's been a while since I've
    used the strain...
