It's possible that your OG was fine...it's not uncommon to get off readings from extract beers
due to incomplete mixing of the top-off water. (no worries - fermentation will finish mixing it

I, personally, would go with the fridge as I've never been a fan of frozen glassware. Good beer
doesn't need to be 33° to be palatable.

The "Power Boil" burner on my gas range is rated at 17000 BTU and can handle a full boil no
problem. It takes a bit longer to get it to a boil than my Blichmann, but it'll do it.
