    ABOUT ME

  • Fairbanks, AK
  • Gaming nerd,home brew,the usual.
  • Linux Systems Administrator
  • Home brewing is something I've been very interested in for years. Back in June when a friend (who brews) was moving and selling his gear I couldn't resist. I bought all his stuff for about $100. Finally brewed my first beer in June 08, loved it and plan to brew many more.

My goal is to brew a Kolch style ale. I live in Alaska and one of my favorite beers is Alaskan Summer Ale (a Kolsch style ale). So we'll see how close I get. I must admit what I've brewed so far is pretty tasty.
  • Raspberry Ale - Should go to bottlearound mid-December
  • Empty (Orange spice mead soon!)
  • Cincinatti Pale Ale (7/08)
    Cincinatti Pale Ale II (8/08)
    House Amber (10/08)

Hey there folks, so after 2 years of all-grain brewing had my first stuck sparge over the
weekend. I wanted to ask if it's feasible that old grain could have contributed to it. The

Both very good points. I don't typically use liquid extract, more of a dry extract guy. I think
I may just ditch the liquid and pickup some dme at my local homebrew shop.

So do you think that canned liquid malt wouldn't be good? I have this can and not real sure how
    old it is.

Hi there folks, so I'm going to make the jump to all-grain, and been looking at some DIY guides
on mash tuns. I found this one that I like: I wanted to get some opinions on it. The whole
