  • I'm pretty new to home brewing, currently 4 batches deep (since 11/2/2010) but I have made several batches of mead with a friend.

  • I got into home brewing simply from the love of beer itself. Unlike most of my college friends, I didn't like Budweiser products, Michelob, etc. But the flavors of brews such as Magic Hat and Dogfish head, really found a home on my tastebuds. Where my room mates drank beer to get drunk, I drank beer because each flavor intregued me.

Got my home brew set on the Christmas right before my 21st birthday (just the plastic bucket setup) and that's what I'm still working with now. My plan is to get as comfortable with brewing as I am with automobiles, and come up with my own recipes and modifications to make unique beers you can't pick up at your local store.

I've only done four batches so far, though, with such a busy schedule. My first was a German Altbier which came out great, the second was an Oktoberfest which came out alright (a little sweet and malty), and I currently have a blond ale and dunkelweizen brewing (As of 10/22/2010).
  • I plan on trying every brew style... IPA's, lagers, ales, porters, pilsners, etc. The only type which doesn't interest me is the imperials. But from what I understand, that's more of a method than a style?

From my understanding, secondary is really only used for clearing the brew. In my experiences,
it does help minimize sediment in the bottles, but either way, you should let the brew do its
    thing for a...

I think otherwise. Going on a deployment doesn't give you the right to be a douche bag. So, he
doesn't get to have a "shorter fuse" and at the very least should have learned some form for of
