  • Got started with a beginner's starter kit while looking for another hobby. The obsession turned into a job and then a career and I spend my days working in the beer industry. With the career came less time for hobbies but after 3 years of 1 or 2 batches a year I've returned full force into the hobby this time with a more creative approach to brewing instead of just brewing to win competitions.

    If you think the first starter has fermented out I'd cold crash the first starter, decant and
    step it up with the new packet of yeast. My 2 cents.

    Just to be sure its not a temperature issue, pour some into a glass and take a temp reading.
    Make sure the probe only touches the beer and not any part of the glass. Since you say your IPA
    pours fine ...
