  • Got into distilling with a friend and that lead to brewing beer for distilling whiskey. After tasting the wash, of caurse it wasn't hopped, I was so impressed I desided to make beer and loved it. My Very first beer was a 100% wheat I malted myself... Fantastic beer. I guess everybody's first one is great :) Funnely enough I didn't get a stuck sparge and got 85% eff as well!! :0
    I have been brewing for about 3 years now, although I have not brewed allot of batches. Ingredients and equipment are very expensive and hard to come by here in SA.
    It is thirty times cheaper to malt barley yourself than to buy extract over here. R75-00($9) for 50 kg of barley(2 row) and R250 for an Extract kit good for one 5gal batch. (With the barley I can brew 10 batches)
    Getting the pipeline ready for a winter session. In summer it is allot of PT to brew because of the high temps over here.
