    ABOUT ME

  • San Diego
  • Homebrewing,woodcarving,black smithing,bronze casting
  • Traditional music from the paces in Europe where my family comes from
  • stay, sunshine, pan's labyrinth, the devil's backbone
  • sons of anarchy
  • My first batch was a brown ale that came with my brewing kit. Turned out alright. Pretty generic but not bad.

My second batch was a disaster. My brother and I made a hefeweizen. We were a little impatient I think. We pitched the yeast when the wort was too warm and we stored it in a garage thatw as too warm. The result? Two days straight of out of control fermentation followed by two weeks of almost no activity. But we waited it out. The resulting "beer" tasted like sugary cereal with an ABV of just about 2%

Our current batch of beer which is still fermenting is an imperial stout with a little bit of chocolate and coffee added to the mix. The OG was somewhere around 1.101. I can't wait to see what happens.
  • Barelywine for sure. This is one of my favorite styles. Maybe a double IPA soon too.
  • Chocolate Imperial Stout
  • Generic Brown Ale

"Noodleweizen" Hefeweizen named after my mother's nasty old cat.
  • Nothing yet. Still just a beginner
  • Male
  • Married

Good luck! I'm still a beginner too so I don't have much experience to speak from. All of my
problems in the past came from impatience. Don't rush anything and keep your utensils
    clean.Happy Brewing!

Oh great! Thanks for the info. Yep the extract was liquid. I'm a little concerned about wort
explosions and bottle bombs. I've never brewed anything this heavy. What FG should I shoot for
