IMO it wouldn't hurt, but not needed. I usually raise my temp for DRest when I hit about 80%

I too brew larger batches. I split batches almost every time I brew. Amazing how different the
beers turn out. I haven't brewed with 001 in a while. I really like 007. I think I may split my
IPA with ...

What was the date on the yeast? I've had older yeast take 3 to 4 days to get going. In these
events I would check your gravity first. If the yeast is slow to start and actually shows life,
I would ste...

I can't see any advantage to 3/4. 1/2 give plenty of flow and speed isn't the main factor.
Generally a manifold is for fly sparging and your flow is a trickle. If your a batch sparger I
would rather u...

I do this all the time. I just pick the more aggressive yeast and tape my thermocouple to it.
I'm brewing the next 2 days and will have an IPA with wlp007, and a Kolsch with Giga021. I'm
going to ferm...

I'm brewing a batch of Saison this week. I'm glad to hear you like this yeast. I'm splitting
the batch with 565, 3711, and Belle Saison. I'll be fermenting with an ambient of 70 and will
let it rise t...

Since you are just beginning, look up a swamp cooler and use it for temp control. You can
always use yeast that ferment at higher temps and work on your process. I used swamp coolers
for many batches....

I use 007 as my house yeast. I brewed a double batch in late January, an IPA and Imp Stout. I
had the yeast in the low 60's and it didn't preform as well as when I pitch little higher. 007
needs to st...

I just bought property with a well that hasn't been used for years. What has to be done to get
an accurate test sample for the well?
Posted in thread: Best time of year to order grain? on 05-16-2015 at 12:10 AM
I've brewed with 3 year old grain with no problem. As long as it is stored properly I don't
think time would make much of a difference.
