  • My father brewed in college (in 20+ gallon batches in trash cans...and only aging one week before drinking...couldn't have been very tasty!). I tasted one of the old bottles (50/50 Coopers extract and table sugar was the recipe) and the sugar had indeed turned to slightly vinegary cider, it was almost drinkable - not bad sanitation, I guess!
I assisted in numerous batches of all sorts in college and a few friends even opened a local microbrewery for a few years.
I'm currently running numerous experiments with spent grains, hop candy, hopped sugars, custom malting/toasting, and of course (like any good tinkerer/homebrewer), designing a bunch of custom equipment...also recently got certified as a Cicerone C.B.S.

I have to say, the idea of cranberry juice added sounds yum, though you'd have to keep in mind
the change in acidity and adjust to taste. And juice, not cocktail. Mmmmmmmmmm...... I do have

I couldn't help but notice that this recipe is basically the same as Edwort's Apfelwein with a
different yeast and backsweetened with the caramel and juice. I am wondering what difference

I think what my problem was, was my air lock didn't have enough fluid. After that it started
