  • Brewing Better Beer
  • I began extract brewing in January 2010, when my mother-in-law bought me the start up kit after I asked for a Mr. Beer kit (phew! Close call!!) and a buddy of mine and I learned so much, so fast, we quickly made the jump to all-grain around August 2010. My beer and my system have greatly improved since then! I'm in the process of putting together a 3 keggle single tier brew system.

    Hi all, I'm planning on attempting my first partigyle brew this Sunday. An imperial IPA and a
    session IPA. I've done some reading in Gordon Strongs book, but am having trouble setting up
    the recipe. I...

    Okay, I just bought a Blichmann Hop Rocket to use as both a hopback and a randal. That being
    said, the first brew I plan to use it with is a holiday ale. My thought is to use the spices
    (vanilla bean,...

    So I am ordering a cartridge filter this week to use as both an occasional filter and also as a

    I made my own pickup tube, just using 3/8 copper tubing. If you have some basic soldering
    skills you can do it for less than $10. Someone has mentioned to me that they would recommend
    using half-inch ...

    US05 will definitely still work at 68, just may not give you as much of a smooth, crisp finish
    as 60 would. I'm pretty sure US05 is rated up to 72*, so you should be fine. Not too sure what
    to make of...

    I usually don’t get into the whole style guidelines thing, but that sounds more like a
    pale ale. What were the IBUs at? Don’t take the pale ale comment as a dig, I am actually
