  • I've always loved beer and just decided to try to brew my own. I'm still at my initial stage and still learning all I can about the overall process. So far, I have completed two beers(full extract/partial) and a mead.
  • Dunkelweizen(with my own cultivated yeasts), Dopplebock(to dedicate to my father)rnrnIn the end, I want to learn how to make a Trappist Ale because it is the only style my wife will drink.
  • Nothing...cultivating yeasts now for my Dunkel
  • I rarely use secondary.

  • I have an old Coke keg that I plan on using once I repair it, but I have not yet kegged a batch.

    Even if your making a starter with water from your toilet bowl, this sanitizes the starter.

    I just use commercial apple juice. Skip all the expensive crap. Go buy some Motts. That stuff
    has TONS of sugar.

    That doesn't happen unless you mechanically filter out the yeast. Think of lagers that are held
    at 34F for a month or more, and they still have enough yeast in them to carbonate the

    BC requires leftover yeast with added sugars to carb...how can you ensure this if you're
    freezing out the yeast?Do you need to re-introduce a yeast if you dont keg?
