- I was living in Utah at the ripe old age of 21 and decided to be as anti-Mor...err..establishment as possible. I began home brewing. I did DME as my first beer, and thought it was some of the best I'd ever had. I immediately began doing impromptu recipes and never had anything else turn out well. I opened my beer making supplies again about 10 years ago after moving to Kansas, and made a beer using ingredients from the LHBS, awful again. I started doing research on the net, purchased a few kits from Northern Brewer, and have been very happy. I recently (February '10) discovered Brewmasters Warehouse, chose a couple of styles and made them. I'm enjoying a pseudo-Klsch as I type this -- I did everything to style with the exception of the yeast. I chose to be different and used Wyeast 3864-PC, and man, I tell you, this is some of the tastiest beer I've had in a long time. After kegging, I immediately put a beer more of style on that yeast and added a bit of Red Star Pasteur Cham
- I plan on doing my first all-grain before long. I purchased some 3-piece valves, sight glasses, and thermometers for my keggles from members. I have placed an order for a FB with another. This is a great site for information related to brewing and I enjoy seeing the kind of support that exists within this forum.

chemicals and some of the best plate chiller pricing I've seen. Plus since it's in alabama you

You probably didn't use enough. I made a all-calypso IPA and got really good results. It almost
has a minty flavor and excellent floral aroma. Interesting. My hope was to have the Apple and
Pear taste...Posted in thread: First Use of New (to me) ingredients (Rye and Calypso) on 01-04-2012 at 01:36 PM
My experience with the Calypso hops -- great bittering, flavor and aroma profile greatly
exaggerated in the write-ups at the stores selling these hops. I detected no flavor or aroma

I just did the same thing with MO.... The calypso kind of suck. Good for bittering but really
no flavor. All I can taste is Citra, which I love so I will drink away+1 on the calypso opinionPosted in thread: Bottling wand for Perlick 525/75, AKA Bowie Bottler on 11-04-2011 at 08:18 PM
