Hey all,
I'm making my first batch of beer in a matter of a few days, and since i know I'm gonna want to experiment my butt off, I got a fwe extra brew containers. I have enough ingredients for a second batch but it's kinda a hodgeboge. LME amber, and dried light. THe LME is hopped, and gnona pick up some extra hops, as i've read the hopped lme sucks. In anycase, I had some magic hat #9 tongiht, and while it's not my cup of tea(or beer in this case), to light, I was intrigued by a flavor in it. I'm thinking I might be able to capture it from priming with honey rather then sugar/malt. I don't know, but that's half the fun:) I'm wondering how much honey I shhould use as a priming agent for 5 gallons though?

aqhhhhh.... I wasn't sure about it. I tasted it but couldn't call it. Thanks for that:) Tought my palette the name for a new flavor:) Ya, they probbly do. As I said I wasn't a big fan. Was too light for me. But the flavor was intriguing when splashed around the tounge:) I would never the less like to try out priming with honey though and see what it does. Any idea how much to use to carbinate but not blow up the bottles:)

danka:) Doesn't seem like it will make much of a diff. I mgiht forgo the experiment in favor of adding honey and ginger to the wort. That sounds like it could be quite tasty in a lightish beer. I'll look in the hb bible for ideas on amount of ginger root.

I don't know, but I'd imagine it varies from one variety to another. Here's some search results:
