I'm on my 5th batch, an Elbro Nertke Brown Ale which I started about 30 hours ago. Still no activity. I used Wyeast smack pack (125ml) for the first time. After the great results on the batch I started 2 weeks ago where I prepared a starter and had action within 3 hours, I resolved to always prepare a starter. However my supplier told me it wasn't necessary with the pack so I didn't. Got excellent swelling by pitching time. Should I:
1.Shake the fermenter to oxygenate - I was told on a previous batch with stuck fermentation to do this.
2.Pitch more yeast. Problem is I'm 45 miles away from my supplier and with $3.00 gas . . . .
I do have saved yeast but its Chimay. If I can get a culture from this what would it do to a brown ale with American ale yeast.
3.I have some yeast nutrient - would this kick things off?
4.Do I need to just wait?
5.What else?
