In all fairness, she does come across as rather twunt-y. And Tenchiro does have a point-- Reverse the roles here:

Him: "What else does the box say?"
Her: "It says 'shut up Sally'"

That version would probably rile up a lot more people, especially if it was delivered in the humorless manner of the current commercial. Good natured banter that is part of any good relationship is something else all together. **Shrug**

There are a ton of commercials that purposely make the guy look stupid. I guess it's just safer for the ad agencies that way.

I honestly can't be bothered to get annoyed by it though, especially while women earn 75% of what men get and promotions are harder to come by. If we can't treat women fairly in the real world, then we can at least let them have a laugh at us in an imaginary one.

This commercial treats both sexes and relationships in general poorly, the woman being a humorless, domineering SWMBO who takes too a bit too much of a grim pleasure in shutting down Steve. Then there is Steve the emasculated, bumbling pansy of a man who does as he is told and is too stupid to have said that in the first place and too weak to explain himself.

Maybe I am reading too much into it, but I do know that if the roles were reversed it would be thought of much differently.
