Did you ever hear back about this? I too would like to find new PET bottles for soda bottling, and would love to hear where people have bought them before (preferably on the cheap!)

Found this from another post on HBT on the same topic http://www.midwestsupplies.com/p-e-t-1-2-liter-beer-bottle-24-to-a-case.html However, at that price it is cheaper to buy soda water in PET bottles at a grocery store and just sanitize them after using the contents for something tasty

Just recycle the commercial soda. You can buy a 2L of pop for $.80-1.00.

Every LHBS here has them, but you are looking at about 60 cents a bottle for liter bottles. They are nice robust and last a long time...but it's nearly the same price to buy a case of pop and dump it down the sink.
