Default uber selection of soda syrup

espresso and coffee flavor syrups already have a hearty load of sugar
just cut with water and add yeast
a starting ratio of 1:1 syrup:water sounds good but might need more water for strong flavors like almond and cherry etc.
has anyone done this already?
