Default Is there a safrole-free sassafras extract????

Does anyone know a source for a safrole-free sassafras extract or other safrole-free sassafras option for root beer.

I love the taste of real sassafras but am not fond of the carcinogen factor, especially for my kids (I don't let them drink it)

Unless your kids are lab rats, safrole won't harm them.

There's a lot of information out there showing that the carcinogenic effects of safrole only occurred in the mice and was never detected in humans. It's not the first time the FDA used bad/incomplete science to ban something.

Any articles of reference? Been doing some research into this recently, and am curious if you have any specific articles.

I'd have to do the research again, but this journal article is the primary one: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/14422
