Default Root Beer, more like Cinnamon Raisin Soda

Ok trying to figure out how to salvage some of this.

Followed one of the recipes on here but ended up with too much flavor from the raisins, honey and cinnamon.

Wondering what extracts I could use to add to my syrup to bring out closer to root beer flavor?

More vanilla or wintergreen extract or oil or something else?

Maybe a cherry?

Try a touch of anise, and a touch of wintergreen. Steer clear of the cherry.

MY poker buddies have now coined it as 'Fruitcake' soda and drank as much of it as beer this past week.

This is the recipe I followed. Instead of wintergreen extract I boiled with wintergreen leave.

But most of the brewing spices after very faint.
