Default Help with 1gal batch

Hey folks. My 6 y/o is begging me to make root beer. I haven't found a 1 gallon, easy root beer recipe floating around. Any suggestions?

I just buy root beer flavor, then mixed with some light brown sugar and regular cane sugar to taste.
but it ruined every seal in my keg, so i only made it once.

try this book:
http://www.amazon.com/Homemade-Root-Beer-Soda-Pop/dp/1580170528It's got a lot of recipes. Though I wouldn't look down my nose at the extracts either- they still come out better than anything you can buy in a can.
