Default Anyone remember Josta?

Josta - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I loved that stuff! I was so bummed when they stopped making it. Would love to make my own "homebrewed" Josta, but I have no idea of what ingredients to use. Just wondering if anyone else out there also loved Josta and has tried making their own before...

DUDE! YES! I freaking loved Josta! I was so bummed when it went away, and it seems like I'm the only one that remembers it.
Along those same lines, my other favorite energy drink that disappeared was Coolah. It was so tasty and refreshing. I would kill for either of those drinks to come back.

I did run across this Strange Soda? - Yahoo! Answers which about halfway down the page has a recipe for making a Josta-like concoction using Pepsi, Sobe Dragonfruit and Bawls energy drink. Haven't tried it, but it's an interesting concept to say the least...

Man I seriously thought I was the only one that liked that stuff. i LOVED it! That was my drink of choice in high school, so many good caffeinated memories!

I actually found a soda once in a Russian store, it did say it was a "guarana soda", tasted JUST like I remember Josta tasting! Came in a green glass bottle. But damn, went back, could never find it again.

I really miss that stuff...

I would kill to be able to make josta. Biggest problem is that I don't have anything to compare it to, so I don't know if I'm getting it right.

Guarana sodas of all types are common in Brazil, and they import them at least into Portugal (which used to "own" Brazil). I love them to death. I also had some at the Coke museum in Atlanta when they used to let you sample foreign coke-made flavors.

Guarana tastes a bit like a ginger-ale, but it's seeds have TWICE the amount of caffeine as coffee beans. It comes as a minor ingredient in various US drinks, often pricey. Among the Brazilian brands, I think Antarctica is relatively pure almost to the point of boring. A slight additive, like lemon and maybe strawberries would seem best to me.

I was watching an episode of Unwrapped on the Cooking channel and saw this drink called Bawls Guarana. Not sure if it tastes anything like what you had but at least its something available in North America.
