Default Transplanting a crown.

Should I do it now, before winter, or wait until spring to move it?

It's in the flowerbed, but we built an arbor for them and I need to move 1 plant about 3 feet to a permanent residence.
It's a first year that shot up about 8-9 feet this year, I expect alot of growth next year, hence the new arbor..

I believe you should wait until the the spring. I think that is why hop roots are sold in the spring.

I split 4 plants into 7 this spring after they began to grow and I did not notice any ill-effects.

If the bines have died back, then you can move it. On the other hand, given the way hops spread, there might be some roots over there already. I had shoots coming up 3-4 feet from the original rhizomes the second year.

I have a four-year-old crown that I only plan to move vertically into a raised bed and I'm waiting until spring.
