So this is my first post and first hop growing season. Been a long time creeper but never posted anything. Figured I would share with everyone what south central North Carolina hop growing looks like this time of year.
I built a 14' tall trellis this year with a slack line pulley system and planted Cascade and Zeus rhizomes. Both varieties are doing well with several of each already hitting the 14' mark and begging to run along the top of the trellis.
Both varieties have large cones already beginning about 5' up the bine. The Cascades are the farthest along with cones that are about 1" to 1.5" long and look like they may only need a week or two more especially with the 95+ heat we are getting everyday now. I just hope that I can harvest before it gets too hot and dry!
I will be finishing up my oast this afternoon hopefully.
