Default Newbie question: Does this look ok? Second year hops sprouting.




When I first planted my rhizome last year the sprouts did not look like this. Is this how they are supposed to look. They almost look like roots but I'm seeing some leaves coming off them.

Can't see it. I imagine some white/ yellow root looking shoots that you are guessing are roots because of lack of chlorophyll due to darkness. Give it sunlight.

looks normal to me. They'll emerge looking almost like asparagus spears then the leaves will open (I see a couple leaves on the leftmost sprout) and it'll look more like what you might expect.

Mine are mostly white to purple, depending on the breed. They start to green up as they get longer. Looks like you've got a good start on year 2.
