I have 4 hop plants. One of them (Newport) has fully ripe cones. My Centennial has ~50% ripe cones. My Cascade and Nuggets aren't ready yet. The temperature reaches 105 regularly here in Hellifornia and I don't want to lose any cones to the heat. Should I start picking the ripe cones now or wait and harvest all at once. How do the commercial growers do it?

Commercial growers harvest all at once because they use machines. Since you don't have an ungodly amount of hops to pick, I would do it in two batches so you're not picking them before they're ready.

I pick as they ripen. I've lost two crops by waiting and then the hops getting heat-blasted. I loop the twine on the trellis, so I can lay down the bines once the cones start ripening.
