Default growing hops indoors

I have some rhizomes that I'd like to bring indoors and grow so I have strong starters this spring. I would like to use water instead of soil, any recommendations on how to get my rhizomes to start bining? I was thinking of using a big dark vase, fill it with water, add some nutrients, such as bone-meal, and let it go from there. Do I need to keep them in sunlight exposure? Or can I toss them in a clear vase in a warm area without direct light (still a sunbright area)? Any recommendations would be helpful. Salute!

Welcome to HBT.

This topic has been covered to some extent. The summary judgement is it doesn't work well...
