Default Can i transfer 1 years hops that are 3' to a different garden?

Does anything think it is possible or not to transfer a bunch of hop plants that are already 2-3' tall? I planted them last year and I did yeild some hops but this year I want to transfer them. Right now there are at my mother-in-laws place which is an hour drive for me. I want to move them closer.

I just wondering if they will die off since they have a established root system.

If I transfer them I obviously won't be taking all the roots, will that effect the yeild this year?

Any tips on what i should do?

a transfer will slow them down and reduce yield since the roots will have to re-establish themselves but they should survive just fine. just dig it up with some care and don't just rip them out

if its a 1st year rhizome i'd just dig up about a 1 foot diameter around the rhizome and keep all of that. if it's a plant with 1 growing season on it then get as much of the large visible roots as you can

Will definately thrive being away from Mother-in-law.

I had to move my nugget rhizome over several feet to make room for an elderberry bush. It definately stunted the growth for this year, but not as bad as starting from a new rhizome. It will recover.
