Default adding hop cones to boil?

so i was wondering once i dry my hop cones and im ready to brew a batch should i just put the whole hop cones into the boil or is there some prep i should do? like crush them or wash them or break them up, or throw them in whole after they dry which is what im thinking i should do. thanks

Just throw them in whole...not need for prep. I would use a hop bag if you don't have a false bottom or hop blocker built into your keggle.

If you are a hophead, I'd recommend brewing an IPA with hops right off the bine. Fresh hop ales cannot be beat.

I grow my own hops. I dry them and store them in one ounce vaccum bags. I toss them in a nylon bag for the boil which helps keep my beer clean. Beyond that point yeah just use then whole. In fact o only use whole hops. Pellets goop up my equiptment.

For wet hops the recommended ratio is five times the dry quantity.
