Default My First IPA

This batch has a few firsts for me. This is my first IPA. This is the first time I am dry hopping. This is also the first time I have put wood chips in my secondary too. I got excited and decided to share.

.....Oh yeah. It tasted soooooo good coming out of primary. I had to try it. I can not wait until it is chilled and carbonated.

There was a bag of oak chips that came with the kit I bought. It is an extract kit from midwestsupplies.com

I did however substitute the willamete pellets for some whole leaf I had. That is what I am dry hopping with as well.

Looks nice. What other hops did you use in the recipe?

Here is the recipe: Octane IPA from midwestsupplies.com

I got the activator pack upgrade

6 lbs. Gold liquid malt extract, 3.3 lbs. Amber LME, 8 oz. Caramel 40°L specialty grains, 2 oz. Cascade, 1 oz. Willamette, 1 oz. Goldings pellet hops, oak chips.

I substituted the 1 oz willamette pellets that came with the kit with Fresh whole leaves of willamette. I had 2 oz so I am using the other oz for dry hopping.
