Why would you not just buy a plate chiller and be done with it?

Some folks like immersion chilling for a few reasons like leaving cold break behind, faster chilling of the whole wort down below DMS production range, etc. I have a CFC but I realize there are pros and cons to both methods.

How powerful of a pump do you need in GPH?

Something like 200-300 GPH would do it so you're looking at a $20 pond pump:

Or this guy with the garden hose thread right on there:

keywords: pond pump, utility pump, sump pump

This pump would work just fine for recirculating chilling water?? Sweet, I was looking at the big March pumps, but to just use for chilling I'd rather spend $20 bones. The march can wait till I build a stand.
