Default First taste -- cucumber wheat

Just poured my first cucumber wheat (idea stolen from: http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f85/cucumber-coriander-wheat-238257/ )

It is actually surprisingly good. The nose is clearly cucumber; the cucumber taste is obvious, yet not overpowering. I normally do not like fruit, or vegetable, beers, but this is the perfect one to use for brewing. The cucumber flavor sours the beer in the same way an orange would -- I have not had it on a hot afternoon yet, but I imagine it will be great.

Recipe:

3 pounds L-DME
3 pounds wheat DME
1 ounce hallertau (60 min)

5 days in primary
5 days in secondary + 3lbs of skinned/sliced cucumbers
7 days in bottle

5.1% (no coriander because that is the most God awful ingredient ever created)

---drink responsibly-----

(thanks to shauntraxler for the idea: http://www.homebrewtalk.com/f85/cucumber-coriander-wheat-238257/ )

Nice coaster!

Sounds good to me. Kind of like watermellon, nice smell to it, should taste good too. I may try this, expecting to get way too many in garden this year.

Ha,ha....I live in South Jersey in Salem county and still a lot of big farms there, well NJ standards anyway. I have 10 acres myself and a farm per county requirements. I grow hay. 2 300+ acre farms are my neighbors....

You made this beer quick. Seems like almost two quick to be just under 3 weeks. Think I'll give it a try.
