Default Brewday 9-8-07

Brewed EdWort's Haus Pale Ale on Saturday, Sept. 8.

The ingredients. Substituted crystal 15 for crystal 10, because that is what I had on hand.

The equipment. Simple, yet effective.

Mash In. 154*, dropped to 152* after 60 mins.

Collected 3.5 gallons from the first runnings.

Hot break. Collected 6.5 gallons of wort. No boil overs here!

Cooling in the kitchen, step 1.

Cooling, step 2.

One of the offspring, up past his bed time.

Yeast is pitched and its in the freezer (on the left), next to a robust porter.

Mashout plus single batch sparge got me 80% efficiency. OG = 1.060, higher than expected because my efficiency was much better than I planned on, and I also boiled off more wort than expected.

My 5 gallon bucket of starsan solution.
