Default Rye Malt Yield

I entered JZ Roggenbier recipe into BeerSmith, and it calculated way to high OG. I suspect that Rye Malt Grain Yield is set too high it this program - 81 %? same as Pils? What should be the correct value - 70%?

First, I would track down the name of the Malster if you can. Ask your LHBS.

If you already know who the malster is then just look for a generic malt analysis on their website. here is one from Briess,

Looks like all they list is 76% FGDB.

It varies a great deal depending on the maltster, I've seen values as low as 63%.

Unfortunately, it's not very often we homebrewers can get a hold of run data. You might be able to get somewhere with your LHBS. Sometimes, my guy can get a batch analysis..
