I've only had / used one. But I've no urge to try something else.
BeerSmith.

Well beersmith and promash both have trial periods. I think beertools does now too (or maybe they will soon).
That being said I use beersmith and it does everything I need

The two i see most often are Beersmith (I use it, worth the $20) and ProMash. I think both have free trials, so why not give both a whirl and then keep the one you like best?
Bokonon was quicker on the draw. He wins

Homebrew formulator is the only one that's ever worked for me, and it's all I need.

As much as BTP is growing on me, I'd have to say Beersmith.

I tried all the demos and free software and paid for Beersmith. The interface just makes sense to me.

+1 on beersmith.
I have never used BTP because they don't offer a trial of any kind, and as a result they won't be getting any business from me until they change that, especially since those who DO use it don't report that it's light years better than the rest or anything...
