Default BeerAlchemy for a Promash user

I recently purchased BA after having been a long time Promash user. I have been happy with PM, but after the trial of BA found the interface be much more current and I'm really tired of having to run PM in an emulator on my Mac. So with that I've been playing around with BA and for the most part am pretty comfortable.

My main question relates to recipes vs. batches. In PM you save a recipe and apply it to a session, which holds all of your mash and volume information but also allows you to record your results. I've not found an equivalent of this in BA, and certainly there must be a way to record your starting and final gravity for each brew session of a particular recipe. Am I missing something?

My only other area of confusion is regarding the hops calculation. In PM, when I change the alpha% or amount of a hop used, PM would display the change in IBU per that addition. For example if I changed a 60min addition of Magnum at 13.1% from 1.00oz to 1.20oz I would see my IBU for that addition alone move from 52 to 63. In BA this is reflected, but only after I save the change and exit edit mode. It would nice to see this change immediately without the back and forth. Any suggestions??

I can live with both these differences from PM, and I understand my recipe formulation comes from a PM perspective. I'm just trying to better understand BA and find a method to achieve similar results under similar use.

Any suggestions much appreciated.

Scratch my main question from above...I did some more digging and found the batch step for a given recipe (very nice btw).

Still have the question about hops.

The IBU values changes on the sliding bar of the recipe creation screen. The check boxes for the style guidelines will uncheck if you get out of range. This should happen instantly. But you are correct that the change to the recipe only happens once you click save. For me this happen with the fermentables as well.

I recommend using the feedback in BA. The guy is great to work with. I had an issue where the metadata for a particular hop got corrupted causing it not to be reflected in the Suggest a Beer feature. Submitted feedback and two days later issue resolved.
