All-Grain - Belgian Blitz
Recipe Type: All Grain Yeast: wyeast 3944 Yeast Starter: 1 quart volume Batch Size (Gallons): 5.5 Original Gravity: 1.042 Final Gravity: 1.006 IBU: 15 Boiling Time (Minutes): 60 Color: 4 srm Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 14 days @ 68F. Secondary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 10 days @ 70F. Tasting Notes: very distinct maltiness, complex mouthfeel, nice smooth mild orange finish
This was my first attempt at a Belgian Wit. I have brewed this beer multiple times and it never dissapoints. I was told by the owner of my local brew supply store that this is the best wit he's ever had and that it should be entered into competition because there really isn't any for it. This is some good stuff gents!
8 oz. american 6-row
4 lbs belgian pilsner
8 oz. dextrine malt
1.5 lbs rolled oats
3.5 lbs flaked wheat
1.25 oz. hallertauer (3% aa) @ 60min.
.75 oz. sweet orange peel @ 5 min
.75 oz. non-crushed corriander seed @ 5 min
1.5 quarts per pound of grain mash thickness (3.75 gallon mash)
4.5 gallon sparge water @ 175F.
mash @ 150F. for 90 min |
