IBU: 21.5
Boiling Time (Minutes): 60
Color: 4.5 SRM

Here's my Hearty Ale recipe... it's a four grain ale with barley, wheat, rye, and oats. It's a great session beer and I'm probably going to make it my house ale.

The brewing method is a mini-mash in the brewpot... the Austin Homebrew method.

After finishing the last bottle of this the other day, I've since changed my mind. This recipe definitely needs to be tweaked, and I think the hops are the problem. Need some aroma and flavor hops to match the spiciness of the rye. Might try this again with cascades or something else.

Might want to add a pound of 6-row to improve conversion or switch to malted rye & malted wheat.

Perl & Amarillo go well with rye.

Did you ever settle on a final recipe for this beer? It sounds great as is, but I have no experience with rye at all so I'm curious what you did.
