Recipe Type: Partial Mash Yeast: us05 Yeast Starter: none Additional Yeast or Yeast Starter: 2 11g packs Batch Size (Gallons): 6 Original Gravity: 1.068 Final Gravity: 1.016 IBU: 65 Boiling Time (Minutes): 90 Color: 12 Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 7 at 70 Additional Fermentation: 5 at 38 cold condition Secondary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 14 at 65

1 oz Simcoe 13% alpha at 60 min
.5 cascade 5.5% alpha 20 min
.5 cascade 15 min

dry hop in secondary with 1oz cascade
I used distilled water since I had quite a bit of extract in the recipe.
Mashed at 154 for 1 hr using 1.2 qt h20 per # of grains
Add the extract during the last 20 minutes- remove from flame then add back and continue with hop schedule.
This turned out really bitter in the beginning but with a few extra weeks in the fridge she mellowed out ( if you can say an IPA mellows) to be more enjoyable. |
