Default Kamikaze IPA

Recipe Type: All Grain
Yeast: WLP001 - California Ale
Yeast Starter: 2L starter grown to 75 million/mL/degP
Batch Size (Gallons): 5
Original Gravity: 1.066
Final Gravity: 1.016
IBU: 54
Boiling Time (Minutes): 60
Color: 9.3
Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 14 days @ 65
Secondary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 14 days @ 60-65
Tasting Notes: Delicious, less hoppy-IPA with a wonderful lemongrass note from the Sorachi.

I really enjoy this beer. It's not a super hop-monster like many American IPAs have become. It's a nice, aromatic beer that won't lay you on your butt immediately. The bitterness is subdued, and the character of the Citra and Sorachi Ace come through. Lots of tasters were surprised about the lemon/citrus bouquet. You will love this beer if you enjoy more subdued, flavorful iPAs.

Worth noting that this was an explosive fermentation both times I made it.

Yeast: WLP001 California Ale Yeast (starter to pitch at 75million/mL/degP

Fermentables:
Briess 2-row -- 11lbs
Briess Carapils -- 1lb
Crystal 60L -- 1lb

Hops:
21.1 IBU -- Warrior (15.5 AAU) -- .5oz @ 60min
6.8 IBU -- Williamette (5.0 AAU) -- .5oz @ 60min
13.6 IBU -- Chinook (13.0 AAU) -- .5oz @ 30min
3.4 IBU -- Williamette (5.0 AAU) -- .5oz @ 15min
5.9 IBU -- Citra (12 AAU) -- .5oz @ 10min
2.7 IBU -- Sorachi Ace (10 AAU) -- .5oz @ 5min
0.0 IBU -- Sorachi Ace (10 AAU) -- .5oz in Secondary

Process:
Mash at 151 for 60 minutes
Batch Sparge at 168 for 15 minutes
60 minute boil
Cooled to 80 degrees, pitched at 67. Kept around 65-67 in primary for 14 days. Moved to secondary with .5oz Sorachi for 14 days. Bottle conditioned (no kegging setup )
