Brewed Hopinator batch 4 today. Slight change on the grainbill, but mostly the same as #3 with the exception of some hop changes. I think this is the final version.

Brewing this beer with almost all leaf hops is a bit of a pain. More or less hit my target gravity at 1.084.

Saq:

That is just an insane hop bill!!

Congrats on all the cudos this one has been getting for you. Interesting touch on the Melanoiden Malt. I just listened to a basicbrewing podcast a few weeks ago where Papazian said he liked to use a bit of that in his APA for color and flavor. Some day I may give that a try, maybe I'll cut the hops in half on the first go around just to cut back on the cost a bit.

Nicely done. You're doing the Western US region proud.

Thanks. Batch4 smells pretty insanely hoppy. I'll be kegging it tomorrow night, can't wait to try it.

Saq, I'm going to brew up your batch 3, mostly because I have all of those hops from the recent hopsdirect sale. Can you clarify the hop schedule for me, any of those mash or first wort additions, and for the dry hops, 14 days? I couldn't quite tell from the paste from Beersmith. Thanks!

I cleaned up the recipes, Beersmith text mode doesn't allow for enough room for full descriptions so they should be more readable now.

In other news I'm kegging this right now. Gravity reading 1.017 which means 79% attenuation and 8.7% ABV which is right where I want it. Its so hoppy it makes the fresh Hop Stoopid I'm having right now seem a little weak in comparison...

Thanks, for batch 3, is that 14 days of dry hop for all of the dry hops?

Yes, 14 all at once generally on the day fermentation should be done (day 7 or 9). If you have a conical or filter and dont mind wasting some trub you could do a multi-dryhop schedule which is fun too
