This was made as a "sessionable" IPA, somewhat similar to Hops and Robbers. Something with some hops but you can still drink it all night. With the lighter grain bill there was still some malt backbone that came through. This was a beer that disappeared very quickly and will be one that is frequently on tap.
This was the first batch I fermented in my conical and when I got the conical my dog (chocolate lab) wouldn't leave it alone so there was dog hair everywhere, I guess he likes stainless too.

Really more like an APA than an IPA but I get ya. I just did a Chinook IPA with more IBU's but a similar grain bill and it's pretty tasty. These are great summer brews and as you said, sessionable. Others can argue if it's technically an IPA or not but it's just good tasting beer.

According to Beer Smith other then the OG being in the yellow (0.002 low) it's an IPA and next batch I'll probably be closer to 48-50 IBU which puts it over an APA for bitterness. But I agree it falls almost in between, I'd say a little more hop flavour then most APAs but not as bitter as the bigger IPAs. But like you said doesn't matter too much as long as it's a good beer.
