Default All-Grain - Pil-Ale

Recipe Type: All Grain
Yeast: Safale american ale (dry)
Batch Size (Gallons): 5
Original Gravity: 1.050
Final Gravity: 1.017
IBU: 37
Boiling Time (Minutes): 75
Color: 6
Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 7 @ 65
Secondary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 5 @ 65
Tasting Notes: Hazy and Sweet up front like wheat beer, fairly dry finish, poor head

This batch was brewed in the spirit of Thanksgiving leftovers. The recipe was dictated by supplies I had on hand to avoid dragging the kiddies out to the homebrew shop. As beers go, its a mutt, so I’m not sure what style category it fits in. Starting gravity settled in at 1.050, final gravity was 1.014 with 71% attenuation. 4.7% ABV.

Here’s the recipe (5 Gallon batch):
12lbs Pilsner malt
1lb Crystal malt (20L)
1oz Kent Gouldings hops (pellets) -60min
1oz Fuggles hops (whole) - 30min
1/2 oz leftover homegrown Chinook hops (whole) -15min
SafAle American Ale yeast (dry)

Mashed at 154 for close to 90min. fermented in Ferminator 12 days total @ 65 degrees
