Default Barn Burner Saison Clone

Recipe Type: Extract
Yeast: WLP-568
Yeast Starter: 2L
Batch Size (Gallons): 5
Original Gravity: 1.065
Final Gravity: 1.016
IBU: 20
Boiling Time (Minutes): 60
Primary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 14 Days @ 78F
Secondary Fermentation (# of Days & Temp): 14 Days @ 78F
Tasting Notes: .

8oz Carapils Steeped @ 160 for 30mins

6LBS Pilsen Light DME @ start
1oz Tettnang hops @ start
3LBS Wheat DME @ 30m left
.5oz Spalt hops @ 30m left
.5oz Hallertau hops @ 20m left
1/4tsp SuperMoss @ 15m left
1.5oz fresh grapefruit peel (frozen) @ 5m left
1.5oz fresh orange peel (frozen) @ 5m left
1.5oz fresh lemon peel (frozen) @ 5m left
1.25oz coriander seed (crushed) @ 5m left
.5oz Saphir hops whirlpool for 5m @ flameout

2L starter with WLP-568

Smells amazing the last 5m of the boil. I have not tried it yet, but I think this is definantly going to be a great tasting saison pretty close to Karbach's Barn Burner Saison. Will keep everyone updated!

This was an amazing saison. Great balance of the hops and the spice. It was close to the karbach, but I liked this brew slightly better.

I also fermented this very warm about 82-85 F with a brew belt.
I've actually brewed this twice more since the original post. It's definitely in my lineup now.

Final Pour

There was a decent head at the beginning, but trying to get the light just right to show how clear this brew was, the head dissipated.
